Renew an ILDA Membership

For 2010, ILDA has a new website and process for renewing Memberships. To use this, go to the Member Management home page. (This is a separate website with its own database and navigation).

For most Members, it should be fast and easy to select your Membership type and check out. Details are below in case you have any trouble. The most important step is to make sure you are shopping for your organization (ILDA Member) and not you personally; this is discussed in the second step below.

1. Log in to the Member Management system

Click on "Login" in the left side menu:

If this is your first time using the system, your username is the email address associated with your ILDA Membership. For the password, we sent out around October 13 an email with your password. If you cannot find this email, contact ILDA. (Once you've entered your password for the first time, you will be prompted to change it to something private that you can remember.)

If you have already used the Member Management system, you should see your name and email address under "Your Information". This means you are already logged in.

2. Shop as an organization (Membership) in the Online Store

Click on "Online Store (dues etc.)" in the left side menu.

In the "Customer" box, next to "Shop For", there should be two items. Select the bottom item in the list. This sets it up so you are shopping for your organization (your ILDA Membership), not for you as an individual person.

Then click the "Go to shopping" button. You should see six (6) Membership items in the store, such as Corporate, Nonprofit, etc.

(Note: If you see only one (1) Membership item, called "Dues information", then you are shopping as an individual, not as an ILDA Member. To fix this, click on "Select Customer" in the upper right corner. Then, follow the instructions in the section above, so you select your organization, not you as an individual person.)

3. Select your desired Membership renewal

There are six types of ILDA Membership. It should be clear which type of membership you want.

• If you are renewing as a Corporate member, note that there are three Corporate dues levels.

-- Level 1 is for larger companies, with annual lasershow-related billings (gross revenues) above USD $1,000,000. This is gross revenues -- what clients are billed -- before any costs, profits, etc.
-- Level 2 is for medium-sized companies, with billings between $250,000 and $1,000,000.
-- Level 3 is for smaller companies, with annual billings less than $250,000.

• Your renewal dues for next year are based on which annual billings level you are in during the current membership year.

• You don't have to stay at the same Corporate level. It is OK to change levels, if your annual billings went up or down enough to put you in a different level.

• ILDA does not check up on your claimed annual billings. However, you should be accurate. The online directory lists Member companies by their billings, to help potential clients identify smaller, midsized, or larger companies. Also, larger companies get more votes on ILDA issues.

• If you don't know your current Membership type and level, click on "My Information" in the left side menu. Then, click on the "Edit Information" link. A new page appears; look under "Membership Information" and you will see your Membership Type.

4. Put it in the Shopping Cart, then check out

Click the "Select" button to choose your desired Membership type. You will then go to a page with more details:

Read the "Membership Details" section, to be sure you have the correct Membership type.

You do not have to add anything in the "Referred By" box (this is mostly for new members).

Click the "Add to Cart" button, to add the renewal to your shopping cart:

You probably don't need to shop for anything else at this time, so just click the "Check Out" button to finalize your purchase.

5. Payment method

Click the "Check Out" button to finalize your purchase. From this point, the system works like a typical online store. You will be asked for payment:

• Credit card: This is fastest and easiest both for your and for ILDA.
• Purchase order: This will take longer to process. Only do this if your company requires purchase orders.
• Wire transfer, check, cash or other payment method: These are not supported by the Online Store. If you must use one of these methods, please contact ILDA for further instructions. (You can leave the item in the shopping cart. We can check out for you once your payment is received.)

After paying, you will get a receipt page, plus an emailed receipt.
