Laser symbol Advice for buying a laser

I want to make some laser shows for weddings and for that i need a LASER. I want the beam to bee visible from 1km or more. I thought at a green laser with power between 3w-5w. I want to use it for animation. I don't want that the full equipment to overcome 12.000 Euro. Can i trust i chineese laser? If yes please give me the name of a company wich produce lasers. Meantime i want to build a home-made laser from components like: diode modules, galvos and the rest of the necesary parts. Is there a good chineese module referring the lifetime and quality of the spot or i must buy from a well-known company? I am working in a electronics laboratory and i have lots of experience but not in the laser busines. Are there some chances to obtain similary results from a home-made laser compared with a company made laser? A green laser with power between 3-5W can produce permanent blind if it is looking accidentaly for short period form a distance more than 7-8m?

Thanks in adance for the answers

I Have a Mells Griot 3 watt laser for 6,000 Euro. It is a nice bright green laser air cooled. I have had bad luck with the chineese lasers. If you need any other items let me know.

Hi Dani,

I am sure I answered all your issus during many conversations we already had.

I want to make some laser shows for weddings and for that i need a LASER. I want the beam to bee visible from 1km or more.

3-5 Watts will easily extend over 1klm, even a 1w laser would, I guess even a 250mw. Depends on colimation and beam diamiter of course.

I don't want that the full equipment to overcome 12.000 Euro.
I already gave you an offer to meet your budget.

Can i trust i chineese laser? If yes please give me the name of a company wich produce lasers.
Can you trust a chinese laser, well of course, trusting the laser isnt a problem. The recommendation is not trying to buy direct. Some suppliers are ok and some very bad. If you so much desire a chinese laser, we can supply one.

Meantime i want to build a home-made laser from components like: diode modules, galvos and the rest of the necesary parts.
As I already suggested to you, while building your own saves a few euro the time lost doing it right will revearse the saving also maybe you will not install the laser head correctly making it not last long, then you will blame the chinese laser.

Is there a good chineese module referring the lifetime and quality of the spot or i must buy from a well-known company? The simlpe answer here is buy from a local supplier.

Dani, let me tell you again as I did already, a 10mW laser can damage eyes over 100meters away, a 3,000mW - 5,000mW is dangerious, if your not sure about the dangers involved then maybe you should do more research before pointing your laser at anyone. It's actually not common practice to allow a laser to hit people not just the eyes.

The results are as I suggested to you already, buy from a good supplier, dont build your self, dont use the laser at people. Its too risky. If you want to cut corners and save a few euro, you also cut everything else, safety, relaiability and so on..
