I just sold a bunch of my old stage lights in hopes of picking up a new laser for my church. We put on a few big events throughout the year and I wanted to get an effect that would make people say WOW.
After doing some reading on this website and the forums, I think that I may regret selling my old stage lights. I found a local lighting dealer that has a laser that I can purchase, but I'm not sure if the manufacturer has a valid accession number for their projector. The fact that he won't put that he's selling me a laser system leads me to believe that they don't have a valid accession number, but I could be wrong. The company is CR Laser and the projector is the Super-7s. The room that I'm going to be doing this in is a gym and we have quite a few par cans and a few fixtures with MSD 250 lamps in them. I really need something that will be able to show up if I have some light in the room. I also need something that is DMX controlled for now and has the ability to add computer controlled software to do logos and things like that in the future.
Since we are a church, I want to do everything by the book and follow all safety guidelines and laws that are in place. The amount of money that we have to spend on the system is $2300 with no wiggle room in the budget (well, maybe about an additional $150-$200 but that's it). Any help that anyone can offer in the line of local laws (for California), safety, projector recommendations, or discounts is greatly appreciated.
