Laser rules and regs in Central America

Does anyone know or know where to find out the rules and regs of using a laser in Central America (Belize and Honduras). I know a Dj that is heading over there with a laser and just thought I would check on the legalities. Maybe its a grey area or there aren't any.

Hi Padi-

I am currently working out of our C.A. office in neighboring San Salvador, El Salvador, and I can assure you - it's really a 'grey-area' down here! ;)

HOWEVER, if your Dj-friend is at least familiar with CDRH / ILDA-published safety-standards for laser shows in public, encourage him to follow those guidelines, as though he were in the US - including audience scanning - perhaps he will not have to 'file any paperwork', but the SAFETY of the audience - even their comfort (few people enjoy constantly being scanned in the face with a multi-watt laser) should be his 'governing force', in this case, not whether there are laws locally or not.

Self-regulation, and a 'smart', safe show will go a long way to gaining repeat business - and avoiding any potential troubles - down here, if you hurt or blinded someone with a laser, it is the 'machete-wielding family-member' you have to worry more about - forget the lawyers!! :D
