2006 ILDA Awards entries

This page is for ILDA Members who wish to enter the 2006 ILDA Awards. Winners of these awards will be announced and presented at the ILDA Awards Banquet during the next ILDA Conference, to be held in the spring of 2007.

There are four main awards categories: Artistic, Technical, Product of the Year, and Career Achievement Award. Details are below.

ILDA Artistic Awards
Deadline: Friday, December 15 2006

The 2006 ILDA Artistic Awards Guide is an 11-page document which includes rules and entry forms. ILDA Members can download the latest revision (1.2) of the Guide in one of four formats:

4 Microsoft Word format, for U.S. letter-size paper (8.5 x 11")
4 Microsoft Word format, for A4-size paper (210 x 297 mm)
4 Adobe PDF format for U.S. letter-size paper
4 Adobe PDF format for A4-size paper

These documents are only available to ILDA Members. If you are a Member and do not have access to the Members-Only area, please contact ILDA with your member information.

The latest version, as of Nov. 7 2006, is Revision 1.2. This extends the deadline until December 15, and adds four new laser formats. Laser entries (frame and show files) can be entered in ILDA, DSP, Pangolin. LDS, Mamba, Phoenix and Lacon formats, as well as on ADAT tape.
     Also, in Revision 1.1, the Graphics Show category was clarified. Both hand-drawn and computer-generated graphics are permitted in this category.

The deadline to enter the Artistic Awards is Friday, December 15, 2006. Anyone who is an ILDA Member as of the deadline is eligible to enter.
 

ILDA Fenning Awards for Technical Achievement
Deadline: Friday, December 15 2006

The 2006 ILDA Fenning Awards Guide is a 6-page document which includes rules and entry forms. ILDA Members can download the latest revision of the Guide (1.2) in one of four formats:

ILDA Product of the Year Awards
Deadline: Spring 2007

This Award is judged based on presentations to the Advanced Technology Workshop. The next one is March 9 2007, at the annual ILDA Conference in China. When the conference gets closer, information will be available about these awards.
 

ILDA Career Achievement Awards
Deadline: Friday, December 15 2006

You do not need a special entry form for this. Here is how to enter:

ILDA is now accepting nominations for the Career Achievement Award. The deadline for nominations is the same as for the Artistic and Fenning Awards: Friday, December 15 2006.

Who may be nominated

You can nominate anyone who is an "exceptional individual with a distinguished history of achievement in the laser display industry." The nominee can be anyone -- they do not have to be an ILDA Member. (You can even nominate yourself, if you wish!)

In the past, there have been three broad categories of winners: those who helped build significant laser display-related businesses, those who made artistic and technical achivements, and those who worked to improve ILDA and the laser display industry. In whatever area they worked, the person should have made significant and lasting achievements in the field of laser display.

How to enter

To enter, submit the nominee's name, plus a biography/description of the person. This should go beyond just a "resume listing" of places they have worked. It should Include enough information about the career of the nominee and why his or her achievements are significant. Feel free to work with the nominee, to have him or her help put together the biography/description.

As a guide, past submissions have been from 1 to 10 pages, with the average about 2-3 pages.

Send your CAA nomination via e-mail to ILDA's Executive Director. Your nomination submission will be passed on to the CAA judges in confidence; no one will be told who made the nomination.

Judging process

In early 2007, a group of laser professionals chosen by ILDA from around the world will judge the submissions. And, at the 2007 ILDA Conference, the winner of the 2006 Career Achievement Award will be announced.
